History

Ultraman is one of the toughest races and the biggest challenge for every triathlete. The race is divided into three stages over three days: The first is a 10 km swim, followed by a 145 km bike ride. Stage two is a 276 km bike ride. Stage three is a 84 km double marathon. Each stage has a 12 hours limit.

The first Ultraman Triathlon was held in 1983 in Hawaii. The goal was to have more than just a competition but an event which focused on the guiding principles of Hawaiian culture…. “aloha” (love), “ohana” (family), and “kokua” (help).

Five years later, the second Ultraman took place at Penticton, Canada. This race was also a qualifying race for the Hawaiian Ultramana. Nowadays, Ultramans are held in the USA, Canada and now for the first time you can participate to an Ultraman in Europe in the heart of Europe – the Czech Republic.
